Important Information: Expiring Teranet Hard Tokens

Your Teranet Hard Token may be expiring in December 30, 2024 and it’s important to renew on time. Once your hard token expires, Teraview will no longer accept the six-digit code from the token. In order to avoid disruption to your ability to sign documents, your firm’s Teraview Account Holder Representative will receive an email from teranet.tokens@teranet.ca with instructions for all hard tokens set to expire within 8 weeks of the notice.

How do I know when my Teranet Hard Token is about to expire?

The expiry date is printed on the back of your token, as shown in the illustration below.

What do I need to do if my hard token is about to expire?

Your Teraview Account Holder Representative will receive an email from teranet.tokens@teranet.ca with full instructions. If you are a hard token holder, check with your firm’s Account Holder Representative to confirm they have received a notice, which will be emailed within 8 weeks of your token expiry date.

If you wish to switch to a Soft Token, you may do so at any time by contacting Teraview Customer Service.

I am not the Teraview Account Holder Representative. How will they know that my hard token is about to expire?

Approximately eight weeks prior to the expiry of your Teranet Hard Token, teranet.tokens@teranet.ca will send an e-mail to the Account Holder Representative(s) for your Teraview account. The e-mail will list the users and the token numbers that are expiring, along with instructions for the Account Holder Representative to ensure the smooth transition to a new Teranet Token.

I have a Teranet Soft Token. Do I have to renew it this year?

No, Teraview users who have a soft token on their smartphone do not have to take any action at this time.

How much does it cost to renew a Teranet Hard Token?

The cost is $50.00 + HST for each hard token. The total fee(s) for any Teranet Hard Tokens will be debited from your Teraview Deposit Account

Note: there is no cost for switching to a soft token.

Why should I switch to a Teranet Soft Token?

A soft token is the most convenient option for your authentication needs. Soft tokens are also free, easy to use, and can be transferred between devices, as needed. Soft tokens also have a longer expiry date compared to hard tokens: 14 years for a soft token vs. five years for a hard token. Teraview users who require a token to sign documents are encouraged to select the soft token option for this purpose.
