In order to get the best experience of the new Teraview map search, here are some quick settings to check in case you encounter any issues along the way.
Check Your Browser
Make sure you’re using one of the following browsers:
- Chrome 130 or later
- Edge 130 or later
- Firefox 134 or later
- Firefox 128 (ESR) – extended support release
- Safari 17 or later
Check Your System Hardware
For best performance, it is recommended that your browser have a minimum of 8 GB system memory.
Enable WebGL2 in your browser.
The latest versions of the most common desktop browsers have built-in WebGL2. To ensure that your browser supports WebGL2, copy and paste this link into your browser’s address bar: https://webglreport.com/?v=2
If a green banner displays at the top of the page, the browser successfully supports mapping.
If a red banner displays at the top of the page, the WebGL2 needs to be enabled to support mapping. Each browser has its own configuration settings; to enable WebGL2 by following the instructions below that correspond to your browser:
Google Chrome
- Open Chrome and type chrome://settings in the address bar.
- From the options in the sidebar, select System.
- Check that the Use graphics acceleration when available option is selected.
- Close, then restart Chrome.
- Type chrome://flags/#disable-webgl in the address bar.
- Enable WebGL Developer Extensions or WebGL Draft Extensions.
- Close, then restart Chrome.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar.
- Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
- Search for webgl.disabled.
- The banner should display False. If it displays True, double-click it to change it to false.
- Close, then restart Firefox.
- To check your WebGL2 status, go to https://get.webgl.org/
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge and type edge://settings/system in the address bar.
- Check that the Use graphics acceleration when available option is selected.
- Close, then restart Edge.
- Type edge://gpu in the address bar and check WebGL2 status.
Safari (Mac only)
- Open Safari and go to Safari > Settings (or Preferences).
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Check the Show Develop menu in the menu bar.
- In the top menu bar, click Develop > Experimental Features.
- Ensure WebGL2is enabled.
To troubleshoot WebGL2-related issues, visit troubleshooting. TIP! Be sure you keep your browser up to date, because WebGL2 is an evolving technology, and each browser version brings improvements for optimal performance.
Check Your Connection Speed
The map may be slow to load or may time out due to a slow connection speed. To test your internet speed:
- Google Internet speed test.
- From the top result, select Run Speed Test.
The Internet Speed Test window should report that your connection is fast. If it is too slow, it will not be able to load a map.
Check Your Firewall
- To check your firewall, copy and paste this link into your browser’s address bar: https://www.emapviewerprod.ca/
A sign in window should display. (You do not need to sign in)
If an error or blank page displays, you will need to change your firewall settings to allow https://www.emapviewerprod.ca/ and http://www.emapviewertraining.ca.
You may need to contact your system administrator to help change firewall settings.
